September 2010

Welcome back to the GHS Art Blog. The blog will be updated monthly this year. Below are photos of what has been going on in the art room in September.

Painting 2 students have been painting with watercolors and started their watercolor technique books.

Painting 1 students have been practicing their basic painting skills and color theory. They are showing off what they know about color schemes, hues, tints, shades, blending and sgraffito in their design paintings.

Independent Study students are working on College Portfolio pieces. This is a chalk pastel self-portrait.

Drawing 2 & 3 students started by doing gesture drawings of each other.

Drawing 1 students are working on paper cut outs.

Fundamentals of Art students are practicing their shading skills.

Once Fundo students practiced shading and patterns they are putting what they know into design compositions.

Art Club has been working on making and glazing bowls to donate to NCCS for their Empty Bowls luncheons which will take place in October.

On September 30, art students traveled to Grand Rapids to enjoy Art Prize. Thanks to a bus grant from MCACA our students were able to truly experience art! Here they are interacting with 2 of the pieces.
