October 2011

October has been a busy month.
Fundamentals finished their group design project which used all of the elements and principles of design.

Then they started learning about portraits and facial proportion.

Half of the photo students are finishing up their black and white prints in the darkroom, while the other half have started working on digital photos in Adobe Photoshop. Students had fun practicing on the board using the short throw projector.

Painting 2 students are finishing up their watercolor unit by painting a watercolor landscape.

Painting 1 finished up torn paper self-portraits.

Then they started taking the knowledge they have about seeing value and practiced painting objects in 3-D using value.

After this practice they are now painting from a still-life. The focus of this is realism so they are color mixing and matching and painting value and details.

Printmaking worked this month on a reduction, linoleum block relief print. They had to carve and print 3 layers to create their finished design.

Below are some of the finished prints.

9th and 10th grade art club created clay medallion necklaces. One to keep and the others to sell as a fundraiser.
