New School year - September 2011

We are almost finished with our first full month of school! The art department has been busy, take a look below to see what the art classes and club have been up to.
Printmaking has been working on creating and stamping rubber and foam stamps.
Carving stamps

Advanced painting students are working on a watercolor technique book. They have come up with some very creative themes this year.

Painting 1 is working on a design using their initials. They have been working on using color mixing, blending and sgraffito in these designs.

The first week of class students painted to music, reviewing and practicing their painting techniques.

Photography plays "No Peaking" to study for their composition quiz.
Sarah Doane works on an oil painting. She is painting a Hawaiian scene on a surfboard that her father built for her.
Fundamentals of Art demonstrates their knowledge of the principles of design by working in groups to create a piece to represent a principle.

Fundamentals learned the technique of shading and creating depth in a scene.
Art Club met to make Empty Bowls for the luncheon on Oct. 4,5 & 6. True North Community Services puts on the luncheon to raise money for their food pantry. Each person who comes for lunch gets to choose a student made bowl to take home to use as a reminder of those who have empty bowls.
