March 2012

March was a busy month. Below are Fundamentals of Art group design projects. The pieces started as a whole with 3 or 4 students and then were divided and decisions were made about shading, color scheme and pattern. Each student created their individual square and then they put them back together.

Advanced sculpture students are working on teapots and choice assignments. See some of their projects in process below. Check out next month for the completed pieces.

Sculpture and ceramics finished their draped bowls with glaze, learning 3 new techniques with glazes: sgraffito, watercolor and layered details.

Once draped bowls were finished sculpture 1 started to create an inlay vase, below they are carving their inlay design into their slab pieces. Check out next month for the finished vases.

Advanced drawing students are working on a variety of projects, check some of them out below.

Drawing 1 students finished their pencil hands, skulls, stuffed animals or shoe drawings. See the finished results below.

Once their pencil drawings were done, they started working on a colored pencil zoom in. They chose a photo to work from and then zoomed into a small section of the photo. They then used a new colored pecil technique called glazing.
